Does my baby have CP?

Post a new topicby sange on Sat Aug 02, 2008 3:24 pm

Hi all

Just wondering if I could get some advice.
My 12 month old baby doesn't crawl, can't or won't stand up even when supported and of course when doesn't walk or anything with her legs - kicks alot and seems to have some sensory issues with her feet perhaps, I have brought her to a physio who has now recommended/referred her to a developmental pediatrician but thats not for another 6 weeks and I would really like to know if anyone thinks there is a chance of mild CP, also I discovered after giving birth naturally that I have STREP B and she was born grunting but nothing more than that

Any advice is very much welcome

Thanks
sange

Hi

I have the same problem my son is 16 months old and cant sit, crawl or walk, and has no sense of balance, they are currently doing loads of test and no one is telling me anything and yet cp seems to make sense. I saw a physio three weeks ago and she said it was definately something neurological, but to me that could still mean anything. I hope your baby turns out to be ok, I understand how frustrating it must be for you.

My son had similar problems as a baby...At that time the doctors had no ideas as to what was really causing his problems, so they suggested physical therapy...After 6 months of therapy he was able to crawl and soon began walking...It was a very clumsy walk...Now at they age of 3 he has been diagnosed with mild CP...If I had known then what I know now I would not have let them stop the therapy that was helping him so much...I wish you the best with your baby and pray that you are able to get a definite answer
