It’s not fair!I am 15 years old. I was diagnosed in first grade. I have tried to keep it a secret because I know that if any one found out, they would make fun of me. People seem to think that people with ADHD are retarded. It hurts to hear what others say and know that they, without them knowing it are talking about me. People also think that kids with ADHD are very stupid and incapable of getting good grades. Re: It’s not fair!My daughter, now 6, was also diagnosed in first grade. I understand how you feel, especially being a teen. When I tell people that my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD, they look at me like I'm crazy. What you have to realize is that many, many people are uneducated about ADHD. I am sure you are a wonderful person who has many talents that others envy. You are obviously a great student and I am sure that you are going to graduate with great success. Perhaps even Valedictorian? I just want to give you a word of wisdom - as you grow older, it will not matter what others think about you or say about you - I am 33 now and have learned this over many years. The person that makes fun of you now with be envious of your future success - trust me. Keep up the good work, keep your head up, and continue to live life to the fullest. Words mean nothing. Continue your actions in a positive manner and shrug your shoulder at those who judge you for your "special" qualities. Peace.
