What to do when you're sick of taking stimulant medications

Post a new topicby laurenashleyXYZ on Mon Feb 02, 2009 4:35 pm

I am 17 years old and have been taking Adderall for almost a year and a half. I have went through various different medications for my ADHD before Adderall. I've found Adderall to be extremely helpful in so many ways with concentration, staying calm, socializing with peers, and staying organized. I recently realized that my dose of adderall kept increasing the longer i was on it. I went to several visits to my psychiatrist and told her how I still feel anxious, can't concentrate, ect, She just kept prescribing me higher doses of adderall to take. Currently I'm taking 30MG in the morning, 20MG at 12PM, and another 20MG when i feel it coming out of my system. That is a total of 70MG daily. I am sick of depending on a stimulant to control me and I have been thinking about switching to a different medication that is non-narcotic, or not a stimulant. I have looked around the internet and because of my age I didn't find much. I really don't want to be dependent on taking adderall and I want to be able to take something that can take care of my ADD/ADHD problems and is able to work for long term effectiveness. I am very eager to get off taking Adderall and finding a new solution to my problem. If anyone knows any medication that is non-narcotic, or not a stimulant, for treatment of ADHD please let me know. Also, I am looking to find something that is rated to work effectively and will help my ADD to every disadvantage! I'm really hoping someone can help me!!
