Is ALS a possibility?

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Sep 30, 2002 9:32 pm

I am 48. I have had neuro symptoms- weakness, dizziness numbness, fasciculations, and tremors for the past 2 years. Recently, I started having trouble talking and my tongue feels way too big.

I have had a "markedly abnormal" MRI from the start. My mRA was normal. The weakness is steadily progressing and I can no longer walk unassisted. I am being treated for MS, but some of my symptoms are not common in MS fasciculations and tremor, I am told.

The fasciculations are not constant, but seem to come in waves and in certain areas of the body. I may have them on and off for weeks and then they will stop for a while.

I have had many tests, but never any kind of eeg or muscle testing. I know that ALS was considered for a while but the numbness, abnormal MRI and droopy eyelids were thought to not fit.

Should I be tested for the neuro-muscular conditions too?
Thankyou-
