Re: Re: benign monomelic amyotrophyThank you for your reply and willingness to keep me in mind. If I can find out anything for you in my search, please let me know. I am worried aout my cousin who was diagnosed with benign monomelic amyotrophy. It is now spreading from his right arm where the muscle is deteriorating to the left arm and I would like to know how a differential diagnosis between monomelic amyotrophy is made from ALS? Also, does anyone know who in the united states specializes in monomelic amyotrophy? I'm in Ca, my cousin is in Florida and wherever there is a specialist, he will go. Thank you.

Re: Re: Re: benign monomelic amyotrophy I've looked up as much as I'm able and could not find the expression "benign monomelic amyotrophy". From what I did find and have experienced I believe it is an early stage of secondary atherosclerosis. Those of us who have experienced some ALS symptoms also experience symptoms such as carpet tunnel syndrome which I believe is the nest stage after the one you are discussing. Then outright atherosclerosis appears with either the subclavian steel syndrome or claudicationin the legs or both.
The difference between ALS and secondary atherosclerosis is the stage of glucose and blood pressure along with how sweet the intestines and stomach are. When the blood presure and glucose are too high beri beri shows up with the first symptom usually being pain in the toes usually the big ones. So I take vitamin B1 and orange juice for potassium. The potassium prevents the atherosclerosis, also I sleep with my limbs straight. The vitamin B1 checks the ALS symptoms. If either set of symptoms become more severe more needs to be done to take cake of it. This is my best guess. I hope it helps. [quote] Thank you for your reply and willingness to keep me in mind. Re: Re: Re: Re: benign monomelic amyotrophyThank you for your responsiveness. My cousin has begun to feel weakness in his legs and I'm wondering if that is your symptom along with secondary atherosclerosis. Do you feel muscle deterioration/weakness in your arms and legs? I so appreciate your response to me. I am printing out the information and I will pass it along. If I hear anything more I will pass it on to you as well.
