Tremors, twitches, cramps, fatigue, weakness? The last nine weeks have turned my life upside down! Before that I had some smaller symptoms that I had paid little attention to until now. Nine weeks ago I had an episode of terrible body cramps, then came the tremors and twitches. They were so bad that I could not walk, write, or sleep. Then came the incredible fatigue in my arms, hands, legs and the bottom part of my trunk. The tremors and twitches stayed consistently for four weeks and then subsided for about two. During this two week period I saw neuro and he did not see any twitches or tremors
Now the tremors and twitches are back. Thankfully they are not as bad as they were. I have noticed that they accelerate when I am stressed for any reason like being tired, the phone ringing when I am resting, trying to have a birthday party or doing any form of exercise. My hand muscles cramp and tire when I work in the kitchen, write, hold a book to read or feed my daughter a grapefruit or kiwi. I cannot hold a pan up to scrape it into another pan any more. The weakness and fatigue has never improved in my arms and legs. I have five family members that have had ALS and another is being tested now. Since there was improvement the neurologist told me it must be a virus. There was no damage on the EMG and he said there was no clear muscle weakness. It is very obvious to me when I cannot do the things I used to do. Could it be to early to detect at this point? Can the tremors subside for a couple weeks and then come back later? Just wondering if it could be ALS just too early to know now.
