alzheimer's

My mother who is 65 years old and has been a widow for 16 years now has been acting very weird. I I have noticed that she has lost interest with the family ie; her grandchildren, and she doesn't make good decisions, she used to think very rationally and carefully. She also claims she doesn't get us kids phone messages or never recieves calls, and she has went through 3 cell phones because she thinks they must not be working. Recently she blew my mind when she went to a relatives house and invited her 45 year old nephew who does drugs and steals and has been in jail several times, to come over and visit her, all this after she had installed a security system and told us kids she was terrified he would find out where she moved and break in on her. She gets upset when we talk to her about these things and just blows it off. I am baffled about all this and just don't know what to think. My grandmother died at 86 from alzheimer's and I wonder if mom is showing signs of it now.
