girls on the spectrum

Post a new topicby knappyjen on Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:22 pm

My oldest child, boy, has Asperger's and we believe our middle child, girl, also has it. While the boy was easily diagnosed I have found people generally reluctant to accept anything we state as fact concerning the behavior of this daughter. Note also that they have a half-brother with severe low-functioning Autism I am frustrated and wondered if anyone else experience the same type of doubt regarding a female child.

She definitely has different symptoms/signs than the boy and we did not even notice right away. I was recently at an Autism Conference and heard a female speaker, Liane Wiley (unsure of spelling) and found that everything she said about her - I noticed in this daughter.
