Some help pleaseHi I am hoping that I can find some help on here. My son is 2 years old, he was born 8 weeks prem. He didn't start walking until he was nearly 18 months old. His communication at the moment is quite poor, he knows some words but has never said a sentence. He doesn't try and communicate really but he will hand the remote when he wants his special programme on. From being quite young he has been obsessed with spinning objects, he still does it now but not quite so much although as soon as there is a new object he has to check if he can spin it. He always seems to be in his own little world, where, to be honest he seems quite happy. He has no apparant problems with his hearing other than having a great dislike of load or repetative noises, like the vaccum cleaner.
He has never pointed to objects and if he wants something he will go and get it, food from the fridge for example. He is not affectionate, he will sometimes give hugs but it takes some persuasion. I noticed him smelling a new food the other day before he would attempt to taste it. I have a 13 year old daughter, and she was in no way like this. My husbands son by his late wife is nearly 17 and he was diagnosed with aspergers and adhd before he was 10. I have been to seen the doctor and I am waiting for an appointment with the paediatrition and I'm also waiting for an appointment to see the speech therapist. I would like some advice as to whether it seems as though my little one has aspergers and would also be grateful if anyone could advise me of any other signs I should maybe looking out for. (My husband is in denial that there is anything wrong and just tells me that the little one isn't the same as his older boy) Thanks in advance for any help.
