frustration of not knowing

Post a new topicby livingwith on Sat Aug 18, 2007 11:45 pm

In June 2006 I took a fall where I hit the corner of a half wall, bounced down, hit the water fountain and finally landed on my back.
The initial diagnosis was lumbar sprain and bruised pelvic bone. I was given pain medicine and injections in the area of my back where the spasms were bad. Was sent to physical therapy about 2 months later. During that time I have progressed from being in a wheel chair to now using a walker. After 3 1/2 months of physical therapy I was told I could return to work....Read the full article

Contact the American Chronic Pain Association(ACPA) on line. The ACPA is a peer support group that can help you not feel so isolated and help you learn how to cope better. The ACPA has chapters all over the USA and in many other countries. If there is no local chapter near you, start one. The ACPA will tell you how to set up one. I organized a chapter in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, Ca. many years ago when I previously lived there.

Best wishes, Holly

It is so sad to say but workman's comp is enjoying a hay day at the cost of peoples lives. I am also a mother with small children and know what your going through. When you do a MRI in the begging of your injury it will not always show the damage. I had MRI'S off and on for years. It took time before the bulges showed. I had the pain (horrible) and would always be so happy when the evidence finally appeared on the MRI so people would not think I was crazy. It was horrible. I heard it could take years before you could see it on the MRI. They know this but use all possible to discredit the patient. The whole system is in favor of the insurance companies that will do all possible not to pay out any money. I was so hurt and shocked when it happened to me and with all the other issues to deal with that I had to put up with this- it almost made me crazy. The children and my wonderful husband give me the courage to keep going. I've also had many miracles from God. Pray like crazy and try not to let it all take a toll on you. Take care of yourself and do all you can to enjoy your family. Pray like never before. God Bless you and good luck.
