Neck and Back Pain after fusions

Post a new topicby Annette Bailey on Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:49 am

Hi,
My name is Annette.
I had to have 2 neck surgeries and 1 back surgery after an injury 4 yrs ago.

Now, I'm having alot of pain in my neck and also at the thorasic area. I finally went to one of the finest Orthopaedic surgeons in Atlanta last week to get a second opinion of where I am now.

I've got to have an MRI of my neck and thorasic area. The Dr did see on my xrays, things have changed a bit since my last surgery. He says I now have arthritis(osteo) in my entire spine and I also have curvature of the spine. He also says I may have more ruptured discs above or below my prior fusions now. I've also got to have a nerve test done on my left arm due to alot of tingling and numbness. Now, when I walk, at times my legs will give away with me, especially my left leg, and I have weekness and problems with my legs as well.

I'm now in constant pain with my neck and thorasic area. I am now taking Celebrex for the arthritis and pain pills for the pain. I certainly hope I don't have to go through more surgeries, but I also know I can't continue in this pain either...

Let me hear from you if you have ideas or are suffering with constant pain as well.
Thanks, Annette

I HAVE ALSO HAD A FUSION ON MY NECK AND HAVE BACK PAIN AND ARTHRITIS. I WAS IN AN CAR ACCIDENT WHEN I WAS 14 I AM NOW 52. I ALSO HAD HEAD TRAMA .IN JUNE I FOUND OUT THAT I HAVE PUTIATERY DAMAGE. MY BODY DOES NOT PRODUCE ENOUGH GROTH HARMONE . I TAKE GH (NORDIFLEX),AND THAT HELPS THE BACK PAIN AND MORE. I AM ALSO ON OTHER HORMONS. IF I DON'T TAKE GH THE BACK PAIN IS A LOT WORSE. IT MAY BE SOME THING YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK IN TO.IF YOU HAD HEAD TRAMA. MOST DR.S DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THE GH BLOOD TESTS
I SEE DR.DAN PURSER IN LINDON UTAH HE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU FIND A DOCTER IN YOUR AREA
