Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:50 am

A couple of nights ago, while I was working, I could not stop my right nose from running. I ignored it thinking it is just the common colds. Then when I was eating, I found out the right side of my mouth is limp, I thought I had stroke I went to the ED and they said I had Bell’s palsy. They prescribed Prednisone and an anti-viral, and even commented I caught it early. Now, it is day 2 and I just feel it has gone a lot worse. My smile is asymmetrical, I cannot completely close ...Read the full article

Just wanted to mention to you (if you don't already know) that its the same nerve in your face that the dentists have to work with down along the bottom of your teeth, that also affects Bells Palsy. You should definately call your dentist and tell them whats going on. I wish you the best in your recovery! I am still in the thick of my affliction.

TO LM - I am so sorry to hear that you got Bell's Palsy. I was also so LUCKY to develope Bell's Palsy on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 while eating my lunch at work. The can of pop did not feel right against my lips. An hour later my right eye started to not focus. Someone drove me to the hospital and I could actually feel my right side of my face fall. It is so awful. They tell me that I am lucky that it was not a stroke, but I am so ashamed for anyone to look at me. My right eye will not close and I can not see good at all. I cannot think of driving. Yesterday I thought I was better and I could drive my car to work. Thank God that I live only 5 minutes away. I just sat and cried. My husband came and drove me home. I feel so disoriented because I cannot focus my eyes for distance. My face looks so bad.
I would like to ask you LM - when I was in the hospital they did face stimulation with an electrode machine and exercises. MY ENT doctor feels that I do not need to do them now. Just use Prednisone. Are you using any treatment? I am only 51 years old and I have never heard of this before. Please answer. I am so depressed.

Could everyone who posted here please give me an update on your recovery? I was just diagnosed today and am devistated! It started late late Fri night with a slight twitch in my right eye. I thought nothing of it. Then Sat during lunch something just felt wierd when I drank though a straw. Later that day I noticed my eye felt funny when I blinked and although I am able to close my eye, I cannot shut it tight. My smile is assymetrical as well as when I yawn. I cannot flare my right nostril. Thank God I do not have a droopy face. Can you all tell me how your recovery went? Also, did you try herbal remedies? I am on steroids/ani-viral. Thanks
