Bell’s PalsyMy name is Kayla Smith and I am 15 years old. When I was in the 9th grade I had gone through Bell’s Palsy twice. Being the age that I was many doctors couldn’t believe that I had even had Bell’s Palsy. Then when it happened again they were even more astounded. See Bell’s Palsy usually affects older people and doesn’t come back at all. So I missed two months of school and had to go to a different doctor every day to do something different. Then by the time the day wa...Read the full article
Sponsored LinksRe: Bell’s PalsyKayla - Hello. I have Bell's Palsy. I have had it since September 25. Since then I have even lost my mother to cancer and I can tell you that I also wish this on no one. The stress with losing my mom is bad enough. I still cannot close my eye all the way and I have to tape it shut. I cannot see very well and I cannot even drive yet. I go to work every day and I wish I could just hide somewhere. My mouth is starting to look much better. I just want to be able to drive. Tell me Kayla have you done any exercises to help your face or did you just wake up and it was normal? I am so anxious.

My name is Tony and today I found out I have Bells Palsy. I still attempting to find out what causes and effects are carried with this. Recently I went to the ER (Where I was not treated because I don't have Insurance) because I thought I was having a stroke. My face was weak and numb as well as I could not speak correctly. Needless to say I returned home and hope to see my doctor to figure out what caused my problem. Well, my doctor just happens to be my pastor so while at church today I walked up to my pastor /doctor and explained what was going on and before I could finish he told me I had BP. I said he noticed it while i was sitting in the in church during service. He called in some meds which I am on my way to pick up now. Not understanding the effects I hoping this will not last long as I am a professional entertainer. I hope and pray everyone who reads this and other posting return to a normal good feeling way of life.
Re: Bell’s PalsyPatsy - Good Morning
I know exactly how you feel. I was sitting at work in September and felt my face fall. Today is February 11 and I am still suffering with the condition. I have gone to work and church and have tried to live a normal life since that day. I guess I feel hurt that this happened to me, but relief that it was not a stroke. The whole right side of my face was flat. Within the last 2 weeks I can smile a lot more and brush my teeth a little easier. Every person heals at their own pace. I still cannot drive because of my eye and the end of my lips have come back to normal almost but I cannot still pucker a kiss with my lips. The ENT doctor told me once that nerve is damaged it grows back 1 cm a day, which is very slow. The doctor said it is caused from a viral infection that damaged the nerve behind the ear. Be patient. I know it is very hard. It was so hard in the beginning to face people, I am a woman and 51 years old. It does hurt to go out in public, but it has gotten easier. Good luck and God Bless.
Re: Bell’s PalsyTony I have had Bells Palsy for a week today and it seems like a year. I did go out to a crowded event where I knew most of the people and no one made me feel ill at ease, They were very nice. But now my eye is running tears all the time and it blurs my vision and is the PITS Howver we coild have had a stroke which would have been far worse. We have to count our blessings I think The lady that lived in the apartment I now have had a stroke and is paralyzed on her entire right side. She is in a nursing home permanently Lets try to look at it that way. We will both have to wait and see how long we have this I will say a prayer for you and ask that you say one for me. Good luck Patsy
Re: Bell’s PalsyThank you so much for your message, It males me know not to hope too much for fast recovery but it does give hope that you now seem to be getting better. My Dr didnt know much about Bells Palsy(young) and I dont think he had seen many cases. So that helps to know what to expect. How does your eye bother you? Does it run like mine does? I have read a lot about four ir five months recovery
Which time frame you seem to be in. How has it changed your life? Do you get out a lot?. Do you have someone to drive for you? Did you take any meds? I hope your progress continues to full recovery Please post your progress when you can Will say a prayer for you Patsy
