bells palsy

Post a new topicby livingwith on Thu Apr 30, 2009 11:02 am

I was 8 months pregnant when the palsy came on me back in 1965. I went to the doctor that day and learned about bells palsy I went for electric current treatments. During the next many years I progressed to where I am. It still shows when I smile (a bit crooked) and I am careful when eating as I do drool. All in all I lived with it.

I’m on day 12 with BP with no change at this time. my pain started in my neck, I thought I just slept wrong but two days later I had ear pain, so I went to the Quick care and I was told I had a neck sprung and the pain in my ear is just spasms from the sprang neck . Oh and the twitch above my lip & the taste buds being gone on one side means nothing. By the next morning I had full paralysis on my left side of the face. I rush to the hospital (I thought I was having a stroke) and was told by the Dr I had Bells Palsy. I was given Anti-virus meds, steroids and light pain meds. The bad ear pain never went away (which makes me sensitive to sound) but did hurt less while I was taking the steroids. Once the steroids were gone the pain came back stronger. I was then given Percocet 10-325(stronger pain meds), steroids again and ref to a therapist. The job I currently have (Customer services) my duties are being able to hear, talk and look at a computer all day. How is this possibly with my speech, eyes and ear problems? HELP!!!! Some advice will go a long way. Good luck to everyone experiencing this.
