My Recovery from Bells Palsy and Shingles/Ramsay HuntMy Bells Palsy story began on a Monday morning. I noticed I couldn’t rub my lips together the way I typically do after I apply chapstick. I didn’t think much of it. After lunch, I looked in the mirror and noticed my smile wasn’t quite right and the blink on the right side of my face was a bit slow.
I called my dad (a doctor) who said it sounded like Bells Palsy The word “palsy” made me start crying uncontrollably. To complicate matters, I was almost 20 weeks pregn...Read the full article
Re: My Recovery from Bells Palsy and Shingles/Ramsay HuntHi Katherine, my name is Kelly. I just read your story about your experience with bell's. It sounded so much like what I am going through and HOPEFULLY and recovering from.I gave birth to twin boys on Sept.8. I was actually a surrogate to another couple. My husband and I have two children of our own and wanted to take the kids out of daycare so I could stay at home with them until my mother retires next year and thought surrogacy was the best way to make extra money while I stayed at home with our children. This was the first and last time we were going to do this surrogacy thing. It was a wonderful experience. Then, six days after my c-section, I noticed my lips were tingling and my right side was going numb. I was busy trying to recover and taking care of my son and daughter, so did'nt have too much time to even think about it. The next morning the right side of my face was paralyzed. My mother is a nurse and immediately knew it was bell's. I went to the doctor (Sept.16) and was diagnosed and put on prednisone and Valtrex. That night I went home and made the worst mistake I could have ever made...turned on my computer!! Like you, I was terrified by all of the horror stories. My doctor never mentioned NEVER recovering! I think I went into a total depression. And the post-pregnancy hormones did not help. I was so afraid I would never be able to smile at my two precious children again! I am now starting to feel the my face move a little bit more. I am improving. I am feeling much more positive now. You are right...too many sad stories on the internet about this condition. Thank you. I am happy to hear your story. I am getting ready to go to sleep now but am not depressed anymore...I am grateful to have my healthy children and a great husband. Thanks for your positive story! Congratulations on the birth of your son!!
