My 8 year old son was playing around in his room and I never heard a sound. Him and his little brother rough house all the time, during the play, my son hit his face on the wall but said it didnt hurt. Later on in the evening while we were watching t.v. we noticed that his right eye was not blinking. In a panic I told him to close his eyes and still the right i was open. I heard that the younger you are, the less sever the symptoms, but If I were you , I would keep him home until her recovers. The embarassment plus his possible symptoms need time to heal. Dont rush it, he is going through a lot to deal with. BP usually affects more than just your face, it is a off balance of all your senses, smell, talk, hearing, vision, thinking also, memory, focusing, attention, plus physical uncomfort, with the eye, twisting face, droop cheek, headaches, ear ringing, not eating right,.and sleep is very disrupted, and tiredness. You definitely know that things arent right, sometimes its hard to distinguish what isnt...well its all off balance. I know everyone is different, but there may be things, symptoms he isnt telling you, that he doesnt know is happening.. BP is tramatic, please give him home care, until he feels better and the BP is gone.
