Post a new topicby livingwith on Thu May 29, 2008 12:36 pm

I woke up on 5/27/08, went to brush my teeth, clenched my lips to rinse my mouth when water shot out of the right side of my mouth.
Futher examination revealed that my lips were not moving like normal and that my eye felt dry and didn’t blink correctly. I’m a 48 yr old male taking medication for high cholestrol and high blood pressure my immediate conclusion was that the doctor had been right, I would eventually have a stroke and here it was.

I am 39 and had the same thing happen last weekend. Friday my tongue was numb all day. Friday night while brushing my teeth the water squirted all over the place! When I woke up Saturday am my left side of my face wasn't working so we went to the ER. Had Cat scan/EKG/bloodwork and a night at the hospital. One week of anti-virals, a week of prednisone and prilosac(for the mix of meds I guess). One week later I am having more discomfort and no real improvement. My ear hurts and behind my eye hurts. I sure hope it clears sooner than later.

Wow,This is exactly my story to a tee, with the exception that I am 70 years old, very active, own my own company and sell for a living.I spent only 3 hours in hospital and then started my treatment for bells palsey. As you can imagine I was devastated and scared to death.I have had 2 open heart operations and didn't worry like this.My only hope is that I hear the complete recovery rate is over 90%,I pray that is true. Would love to hear from anyone on this. Dave from Michigan
