6 months of Bells Palsy

Post a new topicby john1942 on Tue Mar 03, 2009 5:10 pm

After taking medication, accupuncture and therapy I still have numbness on the right side of my face. My eye is still droopy and I have difficulty drinking. Is there anything anyone can suggest? Has anyone ever tried a neuroligist? I am at my wits end. Thanks for any suggestions. John

Sorry you are suffering from BP. 6 months is a long time to suffer with it. Was this
your first time having BP or have you had it before??
This is my 5th time having it and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I am on
day 6 and went to the Dr today and was given Prednisone(Steroid) dose pack.
Prednisone along with an Anti-Viral medicine seems to treat it pretty fast. It usually
helps me anyway. The Dr I saw today only gave me the Prednisone(Steroid) does pack
and im hoping it will be effective.

I hope you feel better soon

Hi John,
I'm sorry. I know exactly how you feel. This is my 2nd time with this stuff. I have had it 2wks. I have had the drugs and no help. From what I understand there is no real cure for this we just have to deal with it. I have seen a neurologist and was given Valtrex, which did nothing. This time there was a lot of pain in my face and neck. I have been trying to rebuild my immune system with vitamins like B12, vitC and a long list of other vitamins. I feel a little better though my vision is still blurry, still dizzy and my since of taste is not there. Good Luck with the vitamins elaine68.

John, I know how you feel. The left side of my face was pretty tight, and my mouth turned up like i was snearing, and i couldn't open it on that side. Eating, and drinking was tough which made matters worse after taking Prednesone. That stuff made me hungry all the time, and very sensitive, and on edge. I had to take time off work so i could take my medications. The only way i could drink was with a straw. After awhile i could open my mouth wide enough to eat and drink. Today is alot better, but i still have some tingling, and when i'am stressed it still feels like the left side of my face is still paralized. Hang in there John.
