3 years and still fighting this thing!

Post a new topicby cdsd00 on Sat Aug 02, 2008 12:31 am

Hello to all,
This is my first post and I guess I was just looking for some answers from those that have been through this.
I had an episode 10 years ago that lasted three weeks and went away overnight.
Then 3 years ago I got a slow onset starting with a headache on a friday night worsening all weekend until total lose of control of my rightside of my face. My eye would not blink or close for a matter of months(sleeping with gel and a patch).
Well 3 years later, 2 ct's ,5 MRI, spinal tap, and more drugs then I can remember and I still have 50% problems with my face, but it's the headaches that are killing me!
My Dr. said I was the worse case he had ever seen in 20 years(just great).
Has anyone out there had such a longterm case improve?
My headaches start 2 out of three days behind my right ear and quickly(depending on activity) spread across my whole head.My Dr. said that the headaches are the first thing that goes away(not true).
When I try to open my eye it closes, the right side of my face and neck are always cramping up and my headaches are level 4-8 2/3 of the time. well that's my story any suggestions or at least success stories for the long term?

I feel for you. I am right there with you, four years now. I have always had headaches, so that is nothing new for me. I am so thankful for the improvement that I have had, I would not complain. It could be so much worse. I do worry about a repeat episode, such as you have had.

Hang in there. I wish we all knew more about Bell's. I think that is the reason why there are so many 'views' and just not that many posts? We all have questions and comments, just want a cure....like over night, right? :)

Well I am going on 19 years and still fighting this thing. Since 1989 I have had three episodes. The last one started October 2, 2008 and is not getting better. The pain was unbearable and I had two trips to the ER just for pain relief. The prescription pain meds did not even touch the pain. This episode is the worst I have had and I am scared that the paralysis will not go away. I have been through every test you can imagine yet no answers as to why.
