Earache and ringing

Post a new topicby ongms168 on Fri Aug 08, 2008 12:36 pm

I was diagnosed with Bell's Pasly 2 wekks ago. thank God it was not serious. Except for a little twitching on my lips and drooping of my eyes, everything "Seems" to be back to jormal now.

I have stopped taking prednisone and the other med.

This week, I noticed throbbing below my right eye, and stress-like symptoms - difficulty breathing, etc. Last night, I woke up at 5 am due to earache - not intense but there were on and off pain throbs and then my right ear started ringing for so long. I also feel slight discomfort in my ear, like when you just got down an airplane.

I went to an ENT today and was told that my earache is connected to my Bell's Palsy He said I have Jaw Arthritis because of Bell's Palsy There was no cure, except some jaw rest, heat compress or pain meds. I asked myself - that's it?

Can anyone tell me what to expect after Bell's Palsy or duting this recovery stage?

I have gotten so anxious, evertyime I feel something, I panic. Help!

I had the same symtoms with mine. I went to my ENT, who had also had Bell's eleven years ago, so he is great with Bell's....anyway, he put me on another round of Prenisone and I feel that really helped. It was a different pack entirely from the one my GP prescribed at onset. The ear pain was so bad that it hurt to lay my hear on a pillow at night and the jaw pain was just as you described. Consider asking for another round of Prenisone. That really helped me. The pain went away and I had no further adverse reactions.

I also had the bad earache and ringing. Every sound was intensified, I actually had to cover my ear or it felt like it would burst. I couldn't stand to lay my head down on the left side. I still have the ringing in my ears but the other symptoms had gone away after about 3 weeks into the BP.
