New To Forum & 5th Time Having BellsPalsey

Post a new topicby Tizz on Sun Mar 15, 2009 9:51 pm

Hello,
I am new to this forum but not new to BellsPalsey. The 1st time I got BellsPalsey I was
in my late 20's .I'll never forget waking up and not being able to gargel after brushing my teeth.
Then I went to work and my co-workers saw something wrong and told me to get to the Dr's
and that is when I learned about BellsPalsey.

The last time I had BellsPalsey was over 5 yrs ago. I am now 41yrs old and about 2 weeks ago I had an Earache but didn't think to much about it.Ive been under some stress due to a WComp injury claim with my job, then I lost my job the day after I had the Earache. Thursday morning I woke up and was
brushing my teeth and noticed that I couldn't keep water in my mouth,I said to myself.... I
hope im not getting BellsPalsey again so I looked in the mirror and sure enough the right side of
my face had paralysis.

I don't understand why I keep getting BellsPalsey,This makes the 5th time now and with each
episode it only gets worse. The worst part for me is that I have no job and no medical
insurance to go to the Dr's so I can get some meds. I have a dulling pain running up behind my right
ear into the lower part of my skull,My tongue is numb and I have no taste,Im having some
vision problems with my right eye and the paralysis is really bad. How much worse can my luck
get??? Today I haven't felt like doing anything because I feel so wierd.

I have an appointment to go to the health department on tuesday so I hope I can get some
anti-viral/steroid meds to make this go away. I didn't want to go to the ER because they would have only told me what I already knew.

Anyway,Im sorry this is so long,I just needed to vent and tell my story.I hope you all feel better
soon and that your BP goes away and never returns.

I went to the Health department today and was given a Steroid dosepack.
Im hoping that will start to kick in an take this Palsey away. The only problem
is that since I have had it this time,I have a really bad pain behind my right
ear leading up the back of my skull and my vision in my right eye is fuzzy.

If the pain behind my right ear continue's then I will probably go to the ER.
Thanks for reading my post.....Would be nice if someone commented etc.

Well today is 12 days now I have had BellsPalsey.... I finished the Prednisone and it
didn't help so the Dr gave me an Antiviral called Acyclovir/Zovirax 2000mg a day
and it doesn't even seem to be helping!!! Now im having constant pain uner my
right ear and all down the right side of my face so much that I can't even lay on
that side.
I am so depressed and tired of having this condition!!! Nothing is helping and this is the
longest I have ever had it at 1 time. I really want my normal life back!!!!

Update-Day 22
Well today is day 22 with BP and the 5th time having it. I am almost
back to normal thank goodness. My eye is closing when I sleep so I have
stopped using the patch. My mouth is still slightly crooked/off but Im
able to hold water in my mouth and eat and drink. Im still having pain
behind my right ear into my skull but its not as bad as it was at 1st. I only
have 2 more days of meds left so I hope the BP continues to go away.
