Pain with Bell's Palsy

Post a new topicby Sabta28 on Fri Nov 23, 2007 3:56 pm

I am a 79 year old who developed a "stiff" neck about a month ago. The stiffness turned into severe sharp pain the traveled from neck to outer ear , temple and half my forehead. The following day I woke up with a droopy eye and a half a moveable mouth. My blood pressure shot way up and I went to the ER of our local hospital. Bell's Palsy was diagnosed. I also complained about grittiness in that eye which turned out to be a scratch on the cornea. I am on Vicodin at night for the pain to allow me to sleep. My eyelid was stitched partially shut by an opthalmologist and I have been using Erythromycin ointment and Refresh eye drops. The grittiness has gone away and I am looking forward to the removal of the stitches from my eyelid.

The constant severe pain has changed to occasional severe pain but it now affects inside my ear as well as the lower back of my head. None of the articles I have read talk about the pain. Will this go away eventually? If anyone has experienced this I would appreciate your input.
