40yrs old with BP for the 2nd time

Post a new topicby elaine68 on Mon Apr 13, 2009 10:51 pm

March 31,2009. I woke up with this awful pain behind my left ear racing down the back of my neck. First I thought it was a ear ache and a neck ache. I went to brush my teeth and could not spit out of the left side of my mouth. The pain became worse thru out the day. Well I ended up at the emergency room where they told me I have "bells palsy". I had this problem with my oldest child 15yrs ago. I do not remember this much pain. The amount of pain you experience is unreal but real at the same time. The pain was so intense I could not stand to touch my own face on that side. I hate the fact that I don't taste anything and sometimes there is dizziness and loud noises hurt my ears. Well , its been 2wks improvement is very slow. I take vitamins, get massages and go to chiropractor it does help. Any other ideas are welcome.

Hi Elaine,
Im sorry you have BP for a 2nd time. I am 41 and had it 5 times and just got over
and so happy I am done with BP this time. Im still having the pain behind my right
ear which I never experienced any other time so I can relate to your pain as well
as the pain in your face.
You really need to get an Antiviral and Steroids because Vitamins will not get rid of
it. You need something to kill the Virus thats in your system. With each person meds
treat BP a different way,for me they seem to work and I started my meds on the 6th
day and I think thats why I had it so long this time. I can't imagine people having BP
for more then a month,Its so crazy and very embarrassing. You just never know when
you are going to wake up with it. For me,the last 2 episodes started with a bad earache
on the effected side. At any rate,I hope you get some meds and that you have a fast
recovery. Feel better soon!

Hi Tizz,
Thank you for responding. I have spoken to a neurologist and was given Valtrex and it did not work. They don't really want to give me steroids because I am a type2 diabetic. Well all I can do is stay prayerful and hopeful this will go away soon.
Thanks elaine68.

Elaine, Yes i remember when my ear would hurt whenever i would go outside. Back then it was very sensitive to sound, and wind since it was Winter at the time. Any loud noise would be shear pain, even today some loud sounds make me crindge. So far things are getting alittle better, only time will tell how my BP will heal. One of my fears is to contract it again. Hope you rebound quicker this time.
