Brain Cancer

I am a university student and my best friend is going through a battle with brain cancer She has had surgury and chemo and long dosses of meds which do not seem to be helping. Her family life is rather rocky and as she does not live with them anymore she has chosen to stop letting them know how bad it is getting. She has asked me to come with her to her next doctors appointment because she thinks he is going to tell her how long she has left to live. I have become her only source of support and I really want to help but I feel like I never know what the right thing to say or do is. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The support and just being there no mater what they say is the most important thing

As having brain cancer myself along with many other tumors in many places, and doing INTERFURON. I am in stage 4. I have been told 6 months to 1 year, depending on how the chemo works. I would say to stand by her. Positive thoughts and talks. ALL positive! Always saying your going to beat this, your stronger then most and you will kick this problem. I feel one of the biggest things a person can do is have a positive attitude and that keeps the stress down. I have been known to many times even make jokes about it. What else can you do? go with the flow and always find the best Dr's. I have had 4 operations in 4 months, Major surgeries, and still walking around. It’s because I will beat this and I am strong. Positive, another thing is to talk to others with basic same problems. She can be the one that amazes Dr's. And probably will be. It’s a big deal to have cancer all over your body through blood. And metastases stage 4 melanoma grows FAST. My Brain cancer grew 3 times the size in 4 days. But I will beat it; I was joking about it all the way to the operating room. POSITIVE attitude!. A must. Get her going positive. Never break down with her. Grab her up and take to a good movie. Keep bad thoughts away. Be, Busy busy busy no time to think about it and dwell.

Thank you for your advice your story and your fight are an inspiration. I hope we are able to muster the courage you have. we have been given a year and Im not ready to settle for just one!
