Tongue Cancer SurvivorFemale, age 47, no risk factors, in August 2007, had semi-glossectomy (half tongue removed) radical neck dissection (removal of lymph nodes, glands,). One year later, fully able to eat and swallow. Speech has been assessed at 100% intelligibilty. To date, no chemo or radiation therapy. Did experience nerved damage to shoulder, and wrist area (forearm flap to reconstruct tongue). I did gain full range of motion to shoulder and about 95% to wrist and hand.
