Alternative to surgery?Hey, I’m a 47 year old computer professional, about 10 years ago I started feeling pain in my wrists, which radiated to my forearms and fingers. Then a few years later, it got so bad, my typing speed and accuracy dropped, and it was just plain painful to type and work with my hands. I invested in speech to text software, but that doesn’t seem to work as well as you would think. So for the last several years, I haven’t been able to type fast and it takes me a while to type out code.
I’ve been told by the doctor that carpal tunnel or early signs of arthritis were the most likely problem. I’ve tried all kinds of medication, exercise, therapy and nothing seems to help. Recently, I stumbled on a product at a conference used by hand specialists, and it’s been the most amazing product I’ve used. It looked sort of like a glove, with strings? It’s called The Xtensor; I HAD to try it on. The man at the booth explained how it works and what to do with it. I used the product while he was explaining it and what the benefits were. Almost immediately, my hands seem to tingle like I could feel the blood flow like the guy talked about. After about 10, I handed it back to the guy, took his brochure and went on my way, making a mental note to check out the website [moderator note: website address has been removed] As I was walking out, i decided to check email on one of the computers available, as I started typing I could feel my fingers moving faster, the pain that usually appears in my wrists shortly after typing a username and password, was not as bad, or at least not as noticeable. I went right back to the booth and got one. For forty bucks, it’s been well worth it. It’s been over a week now, I use it every other day for a few minutes and when I have been typing a lot, and my typing speed has really started to come back. I notice it takes longer and longer before I get cramped up, which he said would take some time as the muscles begin to rebalance but I feel like a new man. I have an interview next week for a new job and owe a bit of gratitude. Thought I would pass along this experience in hopes that it helps others with the same problem find relief. The only thing is that you have make sure to stretch the bands you put on your fingers, they work really good but can break easily if not stretched like the instructions say.
