Do I Have Carpal Tunnel?

Post a new topicby Jen7569 on Sat Sep 08, 2007 3:52 pm

I have been experiencing excruciating pain in my hands when I wake up. Mainly around my thumb area. The pain has been on-and-off though, never really consistent. Recently I have had pain running from my wrist to my elbow and my fingers are stiff. It hurts especially when I extend my hand backwards(my forearm). There is a lump that has formed in the crease of my elbow and I am not sure if that is related. It almost feels like a swollen blood vessel underneath a muscle. Not too sure though. I have had a history of typing and making pizza. Could that be the source of this? Please help.

With carpal tunnel you get pain in your hand, but your thumb and three of your fingers (doesn't effect pinkie) will feel a bit numb. The base of your thumb won't be in on that numbness.

Shooting pain up your hand to your elbow could mean you have a tightening of the myelin sheath. A good physical therapist could tell you. The lump can be significant. If it's a kind of hard nodule in your forearm near but not at the elbow, that's supposed to be there. If it's not that, tell your doctor.

Best of luck to you.
