MS and Carpal Tunnel

Post a new topicby ElJay on Fri Feb 15, 2008 1:37 pm

I was diagnosed with MS back in September 1999. At that time, my symptoms were a constant "pins and needles" in my left hand. Since then I have dealt with the disease through injections, and have experienced several different symptoms over the years.
Lately, I have had my left hand fall asleep on several occasions. Although it is kind of like my very first symptoms ( back in Sept 1999), it is sort of different. The tingling is not constant. It is only when I sit a certain way, or rest my arm a certain way. and the tingling goes right up the arm at times. I am starting to loose sensation in my middle finger and pointer finger on that hand. I cannot say that I have done anything repeitive with that hand/arm, and I am Right Handed ( not left handed). My father had surgery to repair CPS at age 50, and both my sister and Brother have had surgery to repair CPS.
My question to anyone out there would be: Is it possible that someone with MS would be MORE apt to aquire Carpal Tunnel due to the sensitivity of the nerves and associated Myelin sheath?
Is this condition heriditary?
Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanx
