Fatigue

Post a new topicby Zacksmom on Fri Mar 28, 2008 11:02 am

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to help fatigue. My son (9 year old with CMT)takes 2 hour naps in school. He goes to bed at 7 pm and wakes up at 6:30 in the morning for school. The school has been wonderful and lets him sleep in the corner but it can't be fun for him to be so tired. He currently is not in a wheelchair at school. We only use it when we have to do alot of walking. Any ideas would be helpful. Maybe vitamins or fruit? Thanks for reading.

Hi,
I don't have alot of recommendations as I am tired alot too. I am 43. I work(volunteer) in the morning and then take a nap in the afternoon. I would just recommend not overdoing it in any activity. I was taken out of gym class when I was a kid but I wouldn't recommend that;I would just say to accomodate to be able to do as many things as possible. I now use a scooter/cart to get around. When the muscle is tired, all one can do is rest. And when one overdoes it,then the muscle is exhausted. It is hard for a kid.
be well,
Jude

Thanks. I am blessed to have the school allow him to sleep but he is switching schools next year and I pray we will be so lucky. I am having trouble founding out information on his type of CMT. The doctor says it is type 1x. All I am finding is research documents and I do not understand the terms they use. Do you have any good web pages or books that you have found? Is it the type that we need to be concentrating on or the CMT in general.
Thanks for your reply. I am still adjusting to this disgnosis. I thought I was so happy to have an answer after so many years of wondering, but it now having a name is hard. Its nice to know there is someone out there that will take to time to communicate their informationa and story.
:-)
