Help needed

Post a new topicby Kimmergrand on Sat Nov 01, 2008 12:12 am

My daughter has CMT age 17. She was struck by a car Sept. 2007 while walking to school and suffered 2 fractures in her T11 and L5 and deep tissue damage. Befor the accident she had no symptoms of the CMT. Since it she has developed a lot of the symptoms. Does anyone know if trauma to or around the spine can cause a progression in CMT

Sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. Just from my experience with CMT any type of stress to the body makes our condition worse!!!!!!!!
Your daughter will be in my thoughts and prayers.

As already mentioned, most any sort of trauma or stress 'can' make CMT progress. Life changing events can also affect us.. as in a divorce, death in the family etc.. (which are all forms of stress). Any damage to the nerves (such as what your daughter experienced) can also progress it.

Many in the medical community will think your nuts, but talk to other people with CMT and they will totally agree with you.

I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter.. and will put her in our thoughts and prayers.

I used to be a co-owner of a very helpful and supportive group (had to give it up for personal problems that came up - lack of time).

I don't want to sound like I'm recruiting members for them, as I am NOT (I'm just a member there myself now), but try going to..

CMT-Support.com

They will help eliminate the helpless feelings as well as the feeling that you are so alone in what your dealing with... Really a great bunch of people there.

Hope this help some..
