Charcot Marie Tooth Disease

hi i would like to talk to someone who has experience with charcot marie tooth disease. I am pregnant and have found out that the childs grandfather, his brother and their father has this disease and even though my partner shows no signs i am just asking to see if anyone effected has had grandchildren effected when their own children have not. hope this makes sense i can not find the answer to this question anywhere and would love some advice, we are seeing a genetic councellor and specialist next week but i would like to have an idea now if anyone can help thanks.

The answer to your question is yes (for the benefit of others reading this).

Even though your baby's father isn't showing symptoms, he 'may' still have CMT and is able to pass it on. Some people never show symptoms till they are in their 60's or later. Some never show symptoms, but can still pass it on.

Most forms of CMT are Autosomal Dominate (a type in inheritance pattern) and a few are Autosomal Recessive. Rarer yet, is X linked.
