Operation next monthI am having my foot straightened (arthrodesis) ankle fusion, 2 pins put in and sole flat on ground. I have had other operations(not successful in straightening the foot) and am seeing a specialist that is very up to date with CMT. It will be great to walk flat on my foot as I have not been able to walk flat since 14years old. My foot goes right over and I can still walk. My age is 40. Is there anyone out there who has had an ankle fusion (not able to move the ankle at all) and how does it feel not to be able to move the ankle. I have a small amount of movement in the ankle at the moment and am concerned how it will be with no movement, will I feel constricted or does it feel alright. March 20th here in Australia I have the op and in a wheelchair for 2weeks then on crutches and weightbearing. 4 to 6 months cast depending on progress of fusion. I am scared to a point but also glad at the outcome. I met a lady my age with CMT and she had a different operation by the same specialist with success. I would appreciate greatly your feedback, as I needed to share this information with others who have been through this. I am blessed with a helful husband and people and friends wishing me the best. At present I'm doing intensive study Grad Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages until March 1st. Thank you heaps and all the very best to you. Regards Madonna
