Muscle Fatigue

Post a new topicby livingwith on Mon Mar 30, 2009 2:50 pm

Doctors can’t put a name on it and they don’t understand what I’m talking about because they can’t produce the pain on palpation any where on my body. It’s not a “palpable pain.” It’s a feeling in my muscles. I used to call it “back pain” but now I’m calling it “muscle pain” in the hopes that some doctor will figure out what’s been going on with me for the past 7 years.

G'day Vicki,
read your story....... you may have fibromyalgia..... ongoing muscle ache or soreness is a common symptom. I have it and mine started first in my mid back shoulders and neck and progressed to my leg muscles after 2 or 3 years.... luckily the back improved a lot once i started daily stretching exercises (critical!).

It is typical with fibromyalgia to have difficulty getting a diagnoses - took me 2 years or so. There are potentially quite a few symptoms with this so check one of the websites.... you dont tend to get all of them - just some...

Originally my back was my major symptom but it no longer is such a problem.... I had to stop work due to the back pain....

Are you a night owl ? Delayed sleep phase syndrome is often associated with fibromyalgia.... there is a post on this very website regarding this.

Go see a good rhumatologist. A standard doctor is useless for diagnosis..... soome rhumatologists arent much better. Gotta find the right one. What pain pills are you taking ? I find codeine helps with the aches but be careful as it is addictive. Dont take it daily. Stay away from cold weather and changes of weather from warm to cold - usually makes the aches worse.

Hope that helps.
Regards,
jimi
