After 6 months of pain I decided to give the DRX 900 a try.....at $2,400. It was worth it for me. It's NOT a permanent cure of course but the pain went away. This was back in 2005. My back has gone out again about 3 months ago for the first time in awhile. If you can swing the money or especially if your insurance covers the therapy I'd go for it. Guess it all depends on how bad you are hurting. Good luck, Tim

I also am pondering this. My husband is looking at a third back fusion (first did not heal properly) and we don't want to go that route. Does anyone have any experience with the pain pump (Intrathecal drug delivery therapy) or pain stimulator? These are the only two alternatives to another fusion that were presented to us by his doctors.

As viewed at the Univ. of Washington and Harbour View medical Center, the injector system works ,
BUT a human can never stay ahead of the pain curve. Thought about myself. Caught the episode
oh well, next option? It might be available online.

There is a stem cell treatment that is about to start human trials. It is about 5-7 years out before it gets final approval. The treatment is supposed to regrow the soft cushion that covers the disk. The article didn't get into specifics, like who or what level of the condition it would best be used for. I'm sorry I didn't keep the article.

A relative of mine is paralyzed in the area of her mid back, she just got a pain stimulator and is doing very well with it.
