behaving hurtfully

Is there a correlation between saying hurtful things to those one loves and dementia?
would such behaviour, if the answer is "yes", be something which develops over a period of time, or would be an abrupt change?

In some individuals with dementia, personality changes are seen. In general, cognitive changes develop slowly over time, but it is possible that unusual outbursts may be seen. If you are noticing a change in someone you know, it is always wise to have them see their doctor. Other problems, including stroke, metabolic abnormalities, head trauma, depression, can present with similar symptoms.
