dementiaIs it possible for the drug Coumadin to cause dementia-like symptoms. My mother has been diagnosed with dementia. She currently takes Coumadin. We experimented with leaving the coumadin off and she has no hallucinations or mental abberations -- however, when she takes the coumadin, they return. Is there any relation?
Re: dementiaThe symptoms you describe and relationship to Comoudin are very interesting, but I have not heard or seen of that occurring before. Let her doctor know abou these issues. A CT scan or other evaluation may also be necessary. A review of other medications, laboratory testing etc may be helpful.

Re: Re: dementiaThanks for your reply. My mother has had an MRI of the brain, and her doctor, who is her primary care doctor, told me that her problems are caused by tiny, thread-sized vessels in her brain -- that is why I thought the coumadin might have something to do with it. She has not been seen by a neurologist and she is not on any medication -- her doctor doesn't want to put her on medication. Should she be? Several times a day she thinks she is "in a house just like her's -- with the same furniture -- but it is opposite to her house" -- like a mirror image. I've never dealt with this before and I am baffled. I'm going to schedule an appointment with a neurologist right away.
