help advice please

Hi All, I have been having pelvic pain since february, along with nocturia, which stops me from sleeping for more than 2 hours at a time. I am peeing at least 8 times a night, despite stopping drinking fluids 2 or 3 hours before bed.
I recently saw a urologist. And he TRIED to do a cystoscopy under a local anaesthetic. The pain was so bad that I screamed and cried. The doctor stopped after about a minute, and told me the bladder was very inflammed and very red.
I live in france, and to be honest the doctor had no bedside manner at all. He just left me there crying. I went back to his office, expecting to speak to him after the procedure, but his secretary just gave me five different presciptions for treatments.
I am on antibiotics for 5 days a week for 11 weeks. I am also on Methylene blue pills, 3 a day for 3 weeks. And I am also having to start silver nitrate bladder washes, once a week, for 10 weeks.
I saw my gp, who spoke to the urologist, but the urologist doesn't know what is wrong. I am very concerned at being given treatment when he doesnt know. I am also very scared at being catheterised for instillations, when everywhere is so inflammed and painful.
I have also read that silver nitrate is extremely painful if you have Interstitial Cystitis
Do you think he should do a cystoscopy under general anaesthetic before starting bladder instillations. Sorry to have rattled on for so long, but I just dont know where to turn. Many thanks Mulberry

It sounds like you have a good chance of having Interstitial cystitis which you can read about on this website. A drug in the US called Elmiron can be very helpful. I would try to find a doctor that specializes or has an interest in Interstitial cystitis, there are many instillations available for IC, good luck.
