After having Herpes Simplex Encephalitis in 2000…I began to have momentary incidents of a very strange feeling - Right out of a horror novel,,,the feeling of “the hair standing up on the back of my neck” While unpleasant, they occurred while driving/laying down to sleep/walking to a store/even while rockclimbing!
At no time did I lose control of my physical or mental faculties - but this had never happened to me before my illness - does this sound familiar to anyone??...Read the full article

Hi: I also was diagnosed with herpes simplex 1 encephalitis in June 2005 and after a 28-day treatment with acyclovir I also suffered from multiple neurological problems and one problem was what i called my "hair was on backwards" - very painful and making it almost impossible to concentrate. When i spoke to my neurologist about this he said that it was most probably the virus was in the spinal fluid and caused inflamation thruout the nerve endings resulting in the problem with my hair-scalp area. I very occasionally have a similar feeling now and only when i am over tired and run-down but never as i experienced the first 6-months after my illness. My HS1 encephalitis diagnosis was confirmed thru MRI and CAT scan with lesions in the left temporal area and swelling. Hope this helps - you may contact me if you wish / designer 1226
