Re: BenHi, my name is Harley. Like your son, I too have Epilepsy and was diagnosed with it at the age of five and prescribed tegretol as well. Also ironically, I am now 17 years old. When I was little they told me that I would grow out of it, but now (sadly) they say that I will have epilepsy for the rest of my life. I do not mean to discourage you or diminish your hope in any way, I am simply telling my story. It's strange how an hour ago I finished having my 9th and last seizure of the night, had a strange feeling that I should do a little research, and found a story so much like mine. I know how you feel when you say that it breaks your heart. It brakes my heart as well when I think of what it must be like for my mother. What she has to go through, her son has an illness that she cannot cure like a cold. She can only stand by and watch and hope that the doctors can fix me. But, I can never be fixed. We can only hope that they will stumble upon the right medicine that keep my seizures at bay. So your heart isn't the only one that is breaking, just keep that in mind the next time you look at your son.
