I had my first seizure when I was 4 years old (I’m now 33) and it was a grand mal seizure where I was trying to swallow my tongue. For years after that leading into adulthood I had petit mal seizures that were controlled by Phenobarbitol.
I stayed on that with no problem until my body developed an immunity to it and I then went to Tegretol. After a year or so I went to Carbatrol for a change of release I believe. That seemed to lose effectiveness a little so I now take Depakote.
