My 40 year old husband has just entered the hospital 6 days ago, as a result to a sudden seizure while taking a shower. He has no history of epilepsy in his life, or family tree. Since then he has had a total of 10 seizures and as of yet they have found no known reason for the seizures. The MRI has come back with nothing, as well as the CT scan. We are still waiting for the results of the EEG. After his seizures he looses pretty much all capability to speak and form words. It takes him hours, sometimes the whole days to regain close to normal speech. I really hope that they find something. I am worried that he's going to eventually be sent home and have the same problem as your friend. I believe that the main thing with a condition like epilepsy is to have solid support and understanding in your life. It's really no-ones fault, nor choice to have the condition. It's a hard one to accept though. I can say that, because I was diagnosed with epilepsy myself 5 years ago. I am very thankful though that the medication I take (tegretol) works well for me and that I have been seizure free since taking it. I wish for all the best for your friend and hope that he gets the answers I'm so that he strongly desires.
