8 year old newly diagnosed

Post a new topicby cindy hargett on Wed Mar 05, 2008 3:25 pm

My son had 2 seizures back in august and they wanted to wait till he had another to diagnose him with epilepsy Since fri he has had 6 seizures, they started him on kepra last fri and hes still having them. He had 4 yesterday but they seem to be getting shorter in duration. They also started him on klonopin for 3 days. Im hoping this will help. I dont like him on all these drugs but i hate seeing him in these seizures. He stares at first and wont talk and his whole body goes limp. his eyes roll and sometimes move back and forth and sometimes he breaths real hard. his body will jerk and his arms sometimes raise straight up. it is so scary. i do have diastat for a seizure lasting longer than 5 min. im scared to send him to school they only have a nurse there one day a week. hes had 1 today seems a little better. i dont panic when he has them but they make me nervous. ive seen seizures for a long time my brother had them and he had grand mal. its just hard to see your litle one go through this. hes been through so much had tethered spinal cord surgery at age 4. does great though. i just need all the info i can get now to help him through this. thank you. cindy
