Re: how does one avoid stress so as not to have stress triggerasHey Bevin,
I don't know that stress is always avoidable, but there are certainly many ways to find relief. I enjoy practicing yoga and meditation as stress relief. It's not always easy to find the time. But if you can just remember to take a few minutes a day to stretch your body, close your eyes and concentrate on your breath, it will help. Here is an article about meditation, http://www.alternativemedicinechannel.com/education/meditation.shtml Best of luck!
Re: how does one avoid stress so as not to have stress triggerasI as well have a stressful job, but a wonderful boss. She ask me several times a day "how are you doing" or if she notices me dazing off she will come talk to me or tell our receptionist to put my calls on hold. I have been diagnosed with epilepsy 2004. I have the "seizures headaches" and tremors alot. But I also have the siezures where I loose my ability to manage normal tasks such as walk - use a telephone or remember peoples names. Ive been hospitalized a few times for this - I do not know how we can avoid stress, I just try to think, count to ten and say to myself it is all in a days work. We are unique people, you know this. Hold your head high, go into work and nothings going to bother you today!
Re: how does one avoid stress so as not to have stress triggerasHello!
Generally, people are unaware that stress is a known seizure trigger, and regular exercise is a highly recommended way to manage stress. Some people with epilepsy avoid exercise because they are afraid they will have a seizure during the activity. The heavy breathing associated with exercise stops the build-up of carbon dioxide in the blood (hypercapnea). The release of ‘feel good’ brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) during exercise may calm the brain. The benefit of regular exercise, such as improved fitness and wellbeing, may contribute to a reduce seizure risk. It is important to exercise sensibly. You could trigger a seizure minutes or hours after exercise if you unnecessarily strain your body. If you are feeling very hot and tired, slow down or stop. See my article come out of epilepsy. Ali
