meningitis caused epilepsyI suffer from partial seizures caused by having menacocal meningitis (bacterial meningitis) as an infant. I am hoping to find individual(s) with the same type of meningitis, who have been treated successfully. I currently take a combination of Keppra and Neurontin, but these medications at any level have not stopped my seizures (I have periodic seizures that cycle for about 2-5 days of seizures (mostly in my sleep) then pass for 2-4 months). I have used Tegrital, Depicote, Topiromate, and some others which have had adverse side affects or have not changed my status.
The seizures have gradually increased in intensity (as a teenager they were conscious, but now cause me to go unconscious), but seem to change with stress levels as far as frequency and intensity now. I understand that because this condition is centralized in the left temporal lobe, my memory is continuously becoming more and more impaired. I have always had a bad memory, but now at age 35, I suffer severely from both short and long-term memory loss. My goal is to find advanced treatments, better practices personally, natural remedies or anything reasonable that will improve my memory and stop the seizures. Last year, I suffered my first grand mal seizure (believed to be due to excessive stress and dosages changes), and hope to never suffer the like again. Expert advise would be welcome, and I will share more details with a professional. Also, I will gladly share personal experiences with those suffering the same.
