Please some advice?

Post a new topicby Kemya on Fri Mar 20, 2009 4:15 pm

Hi,

My cousin is epileptic since he was was very young and now he is 11. Recently the doctor found out that the cause of his seizures were because apparently he has a malfunction in his brain and it is not working. His seizures are increasing more and now it can be up to 10 times a day. There is a surgery that the doctor mentioned but at the same time it is said that his body would not survive it. My aunt does not know anymore and it seems that nothing, not even his medication, is working and he is getting the seizure more often now. Please any suggestions about this issue? Thanks.

Dear Kim,

The frequency of your cousin seizures, need to know present mental status and related symptoms. After viewing, I don't think it is just bound to epilepsy. Inflammation of brain called encephalitis.

To calm him, I suggest to give Valium to know seizure frequency in sleep. There are other causes of seizure frequency which need to evaluate cranial nerves and spinal nerves disorders. Sometimes high dose of medicines also cause seizures.

Take opinion with health professional and physiologist too.

Regards,
Ali
