rage/violent during seizures???

Post a new topicby mamalusk on Thu Oct 11, 2007 4:33 pm

I am an aid in a 12-1-1 classroom and we have a nonverbal 4yo who will suddenly begin shaking and then begin biting and pinching. He is most likely to "attack" his 1-1 aid but will also attack other adults in the room. He does not lose consciousness and he does not attack other children. Before and after these attacks he is a very sweet and loving child.
Could this be some type of seizure and if not has anyone else ever seen anything like this before and can help us to help this child?

it might be a seizure but I doubt it. This may be his only way to "verbalize" frustration. If the parents are not aware of this behavior let them know so they can have him evaluated.

don't know, but maybe what is referred to as temporal lobe seizure. my brother suffered from these many years after a traumatic head injury from being hit by a car. would never lose consciousness but would have infrequent episodes of abruptly going into a rage. the dr. referred to these episodes as a temporal lobe seizure.
