Essential tremor made me shyMy first memories of ET are when I was in the 2nd grade and I had to play the piano in front of the whole school and I could barely hit the notes because my hands were shaking so hard. Then came the times I couldn’t wait to read my “spelling” stories to the class and while I was standing in front of the class my paper would shake and everyone would ask me why I was so nervous. Or I tried to sing a solo but my voice was shaking so much I didn’t recognize my own voice.

I found your story so touching, I wanted to reach out and give you a hug and then take you out for an ice cream cone. I find it very sad that people can be so cruel. As hard as it may be, try to not give up on the things you love/want just because you are afraid of what others may think. More people need to be educated on conditions that effect daily life. Best of luck to you! Lynn
Re: Essential tremor made me shyHi Julie!
You probably don't even read my comment anymore because some months have passed since the time that you wrote here. But it touched me a lot because I feel exactly the same. It started wen I was about 13. And now I'm 23, shy and planning to have no children for that stupid reason. Because I don't want them to go through what I've been through and what I'm still coping with. ...I haven't gone to the driving school because I'm too afraid. I don't know what work I will be able to do because of my tremors. Or if I will find a job that I would like, if they see me trembling. MY HEAD trembling! I don't know if it will worsen in time if I live a life that is too stressed (I'm still a university student). ...But all that makes me so sad... I would like to speak more with you. So if you like, you can write me - [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] Or anyone else who has similar feelings...
