Have had this a LONG LONG timeMy first experience was the 4th grade. I went to get my Cheerios off the counter and spilled them all over the floor. My dad popped me in the head and asked my why I was shaking. I didn’t know. Now I do. He and 4 of his brothers and sisters had the same thing. I was recently (and finally) diagnosed with Familial Tremors I had no idea what it was. My blood pressure meds help some but alcohol seems to be the only thing that makes them stop.

Re: Have had this a LONG LONG timeI have ET of the head and I also drink to subside the tremors. I have had this for as long as can remember and I am 30 now. I recently found out that drinking actually causes the tremor to progress more quickly. But, I just try to get through daily life. I am however, very afraid of becoming an alcoholic as it runs in my family. I dont understand why I was `chosen to have ET especially since ET does not run in my family, but I do appreciate this site. When you see the neurologist will you ask him about the alcohol. thanks.
