Trying to Make the Best of What Has Happened

From ever since I can remember I have had this shaking in my hands but just thought I was a nervous kid. As I grew older I started to drop the many activities I was involved in as it got to the point that if I tried holding a glass or tea cup my hand would shake so I hated going out to eat. Many times I wondered why me as no one else in my family seemed to have this condition.
I have been to the doctor and I was told I have a tremor and should trace my family history but I came up blank - no o...Read the full article

Hi Sandy,

Believe me when I say I know what you're going through but, as far as being embarassed by ET I don't worry about what other people think because it's something I can't control. I was diagnosed with ET in April 2004 although my doctor says I probably have had it since childhood just never noticed it until I was 42 yrs old. I live with this everyday of my life now but, I don't let it stop me from doing the things I need to do on a daily basis. I have tried the different meds but nothing seems to calm my tremors down. I have my good days and I also have my bad days but lately the bad days have been out weighing the good. The hard part is that I have tremors throughout my whole body and I never know from one day to the next if I'm going to have a good day or a bad day. What I'm trying to tell you is don't worry whether people are staring at you or what they're thinking because it doesn't matter what they think. I just tell myself that things could be worse with my health. I also have to walk with a cane because my legs shake and it helps with my balance. Sandy just keep your head up and deal with what you have to deal with day by day. You're in my prayers
Hugs

Interesting your comments to Sandy, made me start thinking!! I think we should start a new society 'The Movers & Shakers Society' To lady who replied to your post - Do you really not worry about 'your shakes'? Good for you if you don't. After watching the 2008 ParaOlympic's in China I was full of AWE & ADMIRATION for the athletes, talk about getting out there and doing it. Made me feel why should I be a wimp and not stand up for who I am. I do believe people have a deep admiration for those in spite of the odds who do stand up to be counted , but we do have to believe & stand up & do the work. So thank you for helping me see things in a different light. And think about this Sandy, what bravery you have, getting up & doing your 'Presentations' Good on you sport -you make me PROUD.

I have found if I can find the humilty and the fun to ask for help and not be ashamed of Planet Me, then people will (most) be only to willing to afford to me the access to their hearts, but it takes us to help make this possible. So here's to us The Movers & the Shakers.
All my very best of wishes - Valhala
