7 Year Old with ETMy family doctor just recently told me that my son has ET He sometimes but not always has shaking hands when tying shoes, zipping his coat, and carefully placing toys such as dominos. I also think that it makes writing neatly more difficult.
My Dr. feels that he is too young to be put on beta blockers and would rather wait until he actually cannot complete daily tasks or they become very difficult. I'm wondering if occupational therapy is helpful at all. Can anyone here reccommend something I could/should be doing with him? I don't want to wait until he is unable to perform routine tasks, I really hope it doesn't get to that point. Does anyone else here have a child this young with ET? Does it get worse? Will he be able to function when he's an adult? I would appreciate any input! Thanks, Angie
Re: 7 Year Old with ETThere are pediatric neurologists who can better answer your questions. You're right that it will affect his handwriting, and that will affect his outlook on school.
I suggest finding a pediatric neurologist and having him evaluate the situation. Good luck to your son and you.
